Mejia Appointed to U.S. House of Representative Committee on Small Business

Today, upon the recommendation of the U.S. House Democratic Sterling and Policy Committee, Congresswoman Analilia Mejia (NJ-11) was appointed to the U.S. House of Representative Committee on Small Business. This is her second committee assignment in addition to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security.

Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said, “Throughout her entire career, Congresswoman Analilia Mejia has been a champion for working families in New Jersey and across the country. She has repeatedly stood up for America’s workers and our small businesses, the backbone of our economy. Rep. Mejia will be an incredible voice fighting to create jobs, lower costs and further our economic growth, and I look forward to her leadership on the House Committee on Small Business.”

Congresswoman Analilia Mejia said, “I welcome my appointment to the Committee on Small Business and look forward to serving the interests of small businesses across New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy in New Jersey and help make New Jersey a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I’ve met with many small business owners throughout my district, and many express similar concerns: rising costs, the detrimental impact of inflation, and a lack of support to help them grow. I’m committed to lowering costs, expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs, bringing federal investments back home, and ensuring my neighbors get the support they need to thrive for generations to come.”

The House Committee on Small Business is responsible for overseeing the federal government's policies, programs, and agencies that affect small businesses, specifically the U.S. Small Business Administration. Its primary function is to conduct oversight, investigations, and hearings to ensure small businesses have access to capital, federal contracts, entrepreneurial support, fair regulations, and tax policies that promote growth while holding the U.S. Small Business Administration and other federal agencies accountable for effectively serving small business owners.

Since entering Congress, Congresswoman Analilia Mejia has already led the fight for small businesses, joining Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and 36 members of Congress in demanding an automatic refund system to reimburse small businesses harmed by Trump's illegal tariffs after they were struck down in court.
