Assemblymembers Roy Freiman and Mitchelle Drulis Meet With Transportation Commissioner on Route 206 Improvements
Hillsborough, NJ - Assemblymembers Roy Freiman and Mitchelle Drulis met with Department of Transportation Commissioner Francis O’Connor this week at the site of the Route 206 expansion in Hillsborough for a walk-through and status update of the project.
“As a Hillsborough resident, I see every day how the endless road work is disrupting people’s lives. It’s clear these improvements are needed, and we worked with the Commissioner this past fall to get this project restarted.” Said Assemblyman Freiman, “This project has been too long in the making already. Understandably, a project of this size takes time to complete, and we appreciate the Commissioner coming back to Hillsborough today to personally check in on the status of the construction to keep the project on track. ”
“Last fall, after meeting with Assemblyman Freiman and me, the NJDOT created a webpage to keep residents informed of project timelines. It’s important that we ensure the Commissioner hears the concerns and frustrations of our constituents on what is seen as a lack of daily activity,” said Assemblywoman Drulis, “We appreciate the Commissioner returning to the site and his commitment to this project, which is expected to be completed in the late fall of 2026.”
The project to widen Route 206 in Hillsborough had been plagued by delays, disruptions, and safety concerns under the previous contractor, who was removed in 2023.
The Assemblymembers toured the construction site with the Commissioner of the DOT to voice concerns from LD16 constituents and to make sure the DOT is completing the road work in a timely manner.
