Director Talisa Coleman and Commissioner Carol Cuadrado Announce Measures and Support Amid Temporary SNAP (Food Stamps) Suspension

Passaic County, NJ — The Director of the Passaic County Social Services Agency, Talisa Coleman, and the Chair of the Passaic County Board of Social Services, Commissioner Carol Cuadrado, announce that federal funds for the SNAP program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps) have been temporarily suspended starting November 1, 2025 due to the federal government shutdown.
This suspension will affect thousands of Passaic County residents who rely on SNAP benefits to meet their basic food needs. County officials are coordinating with community organizations, local agencies, and food pantries to ensure that no family in the county goes hungry during this period.
“We know that many families depend on SNAP to put food on their tables. We are committed to mobilizing resources and connecting residents with the assistance they need,” said Commissioner/Chairwoman Carol Cuadrado, Chair of the Passaic County Board of Social Services.
“Our team is working closely with the Passaic County Board of Commissioners to provide immediate support and notify all SNAP beneficiaries about the county’s food distribution initiative scheduled for this week,” added Talisa Coleman, Director of the Passaic County Social Services Board.
During the food distribution events, the SNAP outreach team will be on-site to assist residents and provide verification of SNAP enrollment as needed.
