Well-known NJ Healthcare Union District 1199J Endorses Mikie Sherrill for New Jersey Governor

Newark, NJ - September 16, 2025 members of District 1199J, National Union of Healthcare Employees, AFSCME, AFL-CIO unanimously agreed to endorse Mikie Sherrill for New Jersey Governor.     District 1199J is New Jersey’s largest healthcare union, representing more than 10,000 members at various hospitals, nursing homes, correctional institutions, public agencies and residential re-entry centers throughout the state.

“1199J is pleased to endorse Mikie Sherrill to be the next Governor of New Jersey,”  said 1199J President Craig Ford.  “ She is a Democrat who has consistently supported increased funding for healthcare, including Medicaid.  She has advocated for affordable healthcare for all Americans, particularly those with low income and our membership will assist in any way we can to ensure a victory.
