Statement by Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill on The Federal Government Ending the Hepatitis B Vaccine Recommendation for Newborns

“Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. continue to put public health and our kids' lives at risk by taking advice from social media. Overturning recommendations for children and newborns that have prevented some of the worst and most fatal childhood diseases is dangerous.

“I applaud the Executive Directive issued by the New Jersey Department of Health protecting the birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine. As governor, I will work to ensure parents have continued access to science-based information and critical vaccines and join with our public health officials, medical professionals, and the Northeast Public Health Collaborative to keep our children safe and healthy.”
