Anthony in Livingston Sizing Up 2018 Challenge to Frelinghuysen

Alfred Anthony, a former mayor of Livingston and sitting councilman, is said to be mulling a 2018 run against U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11), an Essex source told InsiderNJ.

The source said Anthony is actively telling people he’s ready to go and having conversations with power players in the Democratic Party.

In Congress since 1995, Frelinghuysen found himself the target of considerable criticism last month when he opted out of holding an actual town hall in favor of a tele-town hall. Angry residents demanding answers in President Donald J. Trump’s America subsequently convened a mock town hall in the congressman’s absence.

On Monday, the congressman told InsiderNJ that people need to give Trump time to do his job.

  1. Message to Dems: Not every GOP Congressman is Scott “Fire and Brimstone” Garrett. 3-2 Rodney.
