Linden Mayor Derek Armstead tonight nabbed the chairmanship of the Linden Democratic Committee in a close contest.

The mayor beat state Senator Nick Scutari (D-22) for the chairmanship.

Unofficially, the vote tally was 39-32.

“I made history again,” Armstead told InsiderNJ. “I am the first African American chair of the party.”
