Atlantic City Mayor Small Burnishes Statewide Support at Reelection Fundraiser

At the Sky Bar in Ocean Resorts, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small last Thursday night raised over $200,000 toward his reelection campaign in two years.

Attendees included Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, a key Small ally, who addressed the crowd at the fundraiser (see below).

Small backs Fulop’s 2025 candidacy for governor.

Democratic State Committee Chairman LeRoy Jones was also in town and made a video (see bottom of the story) in support of Mayor Small.

Building Trades muscle occupied the room, in addition to members of the Republican Party.

“I’m humbled and honored by the support I have locally and afar,” said Small, a Democrat. “We’re producing for Atlantic City. Even our detractors know we’re doing a good job. And this is just the start.”

Now at the midway point of his current term, Small wants to run again in two years.

“First and foremost, all four of our budgets have delivered a tax decrease,” the mayor told InsiderNJ. “That’s governing in a pandemic. Wall Street was shocked when we let them know how good our numbers were during a pandemic.”

Small took pride in helping to facilitate last year’s NAACP conference in Atlantic City, presiding over the imploding of Trump Plaza in 2021, presiding during the expansion of Atlantic City amenities like the Waterpark at Showboat and an incoming Dave and Busters. The city is at this moment waiting for the full letter of commitment for the development of Bader Field.

Mostly, the mayor prides himself on work fulfilled for residents during the COVID crisis, leadership that included critical safeguards for youth and seniors; and for expanding quality of life for residents, including an augmented, post COVID recreation program.

Mayor Small said his ability to raise over $200,000 in one night made a statement and added that he is looking forward to other future fundraisers. He has one scheduled in Jersey City in six weeks’ time. “A lot of people believe in my leadership because I deliver,” said the mayor. “I am loyal and as mayor I’m a man of my word. When I tell you something, you can take it to the bank.”

Mayor Small’s League of Municipalities Party is schedule from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Island Waterpark on Tuesday, Nov. 14th, free of charge.

  1. Glad to hear some positive words being spoken about Mayor Smalls. I’m so tired if petty complaints being on the radio abiit his past We all have done something wrong no one is perfect. I pray he keeps helping the people of this city and doesn’t let the negative people make him lose focus. Wr are always knocking each other down.

  2. Atlantic City will never reached its true potential with the direction it’s taken these past few decades. Sadly many people who are unfit for leadership want to be leaders of people. The public school system, many nonprofit organizations and even so called temples of worship ensure the sheep are kept weak, meek and asleep, all while the masters and the masters minions keep leading the flock astray. Wake up people! Look around you and see how other cities are being managed and judge for yourself.
