Baraka Arrested for 'Trespassing' at Controversial Immigrant Detention Facility

Authorities with Homeland Securities Investigations and ICE this afternoon arrested Mayor Ras Baraka and charged him with trespassing at the detention facility Delaney Hall in Newark.
The mayor's arrest outside the front gate of the center following an argument and scuffle with agents came after a tense week at the privately owned and operated immigrant detention center in Newark.
Agents put Baraka in handcuffs.
From the campaign of Baraka, who is running in the Democratic Primary for Governor:
"Confirmed: This afternoon, Mayor Ras J. Baraka was arrested and detained by ICE. He is currently being transported to 620 Frelinghuysen Ave #1, Newark, NJ 07114. According to a tweet from U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, the arrest is related to alleged trespassing. We are actively monitoring and will provide more details as they become available." - Kabir Moss, Spokesperson for Ras Baraka for Governor Campaign.
UPDATE: The authorities would release Baraka by 9 p.m. on Friday.
Also at the rally at Delaney Hall were U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, U.S. Rep. Lamonica McIver, and U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez. According to activist Staci Berger an hour ago, "ICE just arrested Mayor Baraka shoved Congress members and pushed us around. NJ people come to Delaney Hall now!"
According to Fox News: "Reps. Rob Menendez Jr., Bonnie Watson Coleman and LaMonica McIver, all New Jersey Democrats, entered ICE's Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark and were held up inside the first checkpoint, Department of Homeland Security spokesperson DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News."

Also, this from NJ.com, by way of context:
A U.S. Department of Homeland Security official sharply criticized Newark’s mayor on Thursday over his opposition to an immigrant detention center in his city, accusing him of “political antics” that the official said endanger ICE officers and detainees.
“The sanctuary mayor of Newark and his political antics are endangering ICE personnel, the security of the facility, and ultimately the detainees housed there,” DHS Assistant Secretary for Communications Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement to NJ Advance Media on Thursday.
The controversial 1,000-bed facility is owned by the private prison company GEO Group, which entered into a 15-year, $1 billion contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in February.
“We are trying to get in, and we are going to get in today,” said Baraka, who is also running for New Jersey’s Democratic gubernatorial nomination. “It doesn’t matter who is inside, I think they may have detainees, they shouldn’t be in there. We allowed the courts to negotiate this when there were no detainees and just workers, GEO and us. ICE doesn’t have a long-term lease with these folks, so GEO is completely responsible and hiding behind ICE right now."
