Basantis gets Dems’ Screening Committee Backing and other BurlCo Updates

The screening committee of the Burlington County Democratic Party last night advanced the name of Anthony Basantis of Burlington Twp. as its choice for sheriff.
A sheriff’s officer, Basantis beat Police Chief Scott Pearlman of Palmyra for the nod.
As first reported by InsiderNJ, the GOP have positioned Mike Ditzel as their sheriff’s candidate this year, the replacement for retiring Sheriff Jean Stanfield.
Stanfield is running for an LD8 Assembly seat with GOP establishment support alongside Assemblyman Ryan Peters (R-8). Assemblyman Joe Howarth (R-8) is also running in the GOP Primary.
Also, as first reported by InsiderNJ, Gina LaPlaca and Mark Natale have establishment support to represent the Democratic Party in the Burlington-based LD8.
