Mercer County Executive Dan Benson submitted the name of Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli (D-15) as his choice to be the next Executive Director of the Mercer County Improvement Authority (MCIA).

Benson said Verrelli brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career in the construction industry, where he served as both a Journeyman Carpenter and in Union Leadership. Alongside his union role, he has served as a public official, previously elected to the Mercer County Board of Chosen Commissioners and presently as a New Jersey Assemblyman in the 15th District.  Prior to elected office, Verrelli served six years on the Board of the MCIA.

During his nearly two-decade tenure in the Carpenter’s union, Verrelli held significant positions, including President of Local 254, Senior Council Representative of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters, and a Trustee for the organization’s pension fund for a decade.

“In Anthony’s long career with the Carpenters, and his time on the MCIA Board, he was always an advocate for investing in infrastructure and building quality projects that strengthened our communities. In his years as a labor leader, Anthony demonstrated extensive knowledge of the construction industry and a deep understanding of diverse stakeholder perspectives. As my Administration empowers the Mercer County Improvement Authority to broaden its scope, I know Anthony is the ideal choice,” said County Executive Dan Benson.

Verrelli expressed his gratitude to the County Executive for selecting him to lead the Mercer County Improvement Authority.

With the Mercer County Improvement Authority, we have the ability to expand economic opportunities and uplift our municipalities.
