U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT), a Democratic prez candidate, took time on Saturday to speak with Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz at an event where Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez formally endorsed Sanders for president.

Diaz also supports the Sanders presidential cause.

The event took place at a rally AOC held in Queens for Sanders.

“They had over 20k people there,” Diaz told InsiderNJ. “The people kept coming. He definitely has a consistent progressive message.”

The mayor said Sanders walked over to her and her nephew Zachary and said, “Thank you so much.”
