Boebert on Kean Disappearance: 'Embarrassing'

Don't expect Lauren Boebert, the colorful and often controversial congresswoman from Colorado, to spend any time this fall in New Jersey campaigning for Tom Kean Jr.
“Where is he? No, seriously. It’s embarrassing,” Boebert told TMZ on the Capitol steps Wednesday, as reported by The Hill, a DC news site.
Later, according to The Hill, Boebert, not always the most sensitive lawmaker, observed:
“I’m not saying that he’s dead, but I mean, come on. I mean, absent … where is the representation? That is taxation without representation, is it not?”
If nothing else, those comments certainly indicate a growing frustration among Republicans about Kean's absence. He's been gone from Congress for just about three months.
All this has become even bigger news in light of the upcoming midterm election where Kean faces Democrat Rebecca Bennett in CD-7.
Mikie Sherrill was asked about all this on the monthly Ask the Governor show on Wednesday evening.
The governor said she has not spoken to Kean, who was, of course, a House colleague of hers, but that she has talked with his staff.
"It's a sensitive situation," the governor said.
Sherrill also talked about what she said was growing excitement about the Democrats flipping not only CD-7, but CD-2 in south Jersey, where Jeff Van Drew faces Democrat Zack Mullock, the mayor of Cape May.
One caller wanted to talk about redistricting.
His point was that since Dems control the Legislature, why don't they remap the state to gain seats? This has become a nationwide practice.
"What are you waiting for?" the caller asked.
Sherrill said she would be amenable to that, but nothing can happen immediately because of the state constitution, which leaves redistricting to a bipartisan panel.
At the moment, Democrats hold a 9-3 advantage in the House.
