Burzichelli Beats Durr in LD-3, and Moriarty Wins in LD-4

Democrat John Burzichelli (pictured) has prevailed in LD-3.

The former Assemblyman who ran for Steve Sweeney’s senate seat turned out LD-3 incumbent state Senator Ed Durr, a Republican.

Fellow Democrat Assemblyman Paul Moriarty won the seat left behind by retiring state Senator Fred Madden.

Moriarty defeated Republican candidate Chris Del Borrello.

Big wins for Democrats in New Jersey.

In the words of one New Jersey Democrat, “The South is back.”

It was a win for South Jersey Democrats, who had taken a beating in recent legislative elections.

Look for an imminent gubernatorial announcement by a regionally buoyed Sweeney.
