Camden County: 84% of COVID-19 Fatalities Reported From Long-Term Care Facilities

(Gloucester Township, NJ) –The Camden County Department of Health is announcing two new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. The aggregate number of confirmed positive cases is 2,943 in Camden County today and 127 total fatalities.

Due to a software malfunction involving recent cases, there is no update on new positive cases in Camden County today. An update on these cases will be provided tomorrow, April 30.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

Case 1: Male, 60s, Clementon

Case 2: Male, 70s, Camden City

“It will never get easier to make these announcements. Today, two more souls were lost to this insidious virus in our community. We are sending our sincerest condolences to all of the families impacted by this pandemic,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Today, the governor announced one of the first major reopenings in our state by allowing county and state parks to reopen. While this is exciting news, it is critical that we do not mistake progress for mission accomplished. We must continue to social distance, stay home except for very limited occasions, and wear a mask or face cover in public. We are heading in the right direction and these steps will ensure that we continue on our current trajectory and do not slide backwards.”

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 844 confirmed cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 2,943 in 27 of our 56 long-term care facilities. At this current time 107 deaths have been reported from these facilities from our 127 total fatalities countywide.
