Campos Nabs Key Law Enforcement Endorsements

Campos

Following his campaign kick-off on January 22th, candidate for Councilman from the East Ward Anthony Campos announced that he has been endorsed by two law enforcement agencies, crediting his extensive experience in public administration and law enforcement – the Essex County Chiefs of Police Association, and the Newark Police Superior Officers’ Association – as well as Anthony F. Ambrose, the former Director of Public Safety for the City of Newark and the former Chief of Detectives at the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, have all endorsed Anthony Campos for Councilman representing the East Ward.

“Improving public safety requires a deep understanding of not only the community, but also of the intricacies of the complex public agencies focused on law enforcement,” stated Mr. Ambrose. “Having worked with Anthony over the years, I can personally attest to his character and genuine desire to improve the lives of those around him. Anthony is fiercely protective of the East Ward, and he is the best candidate in this race with the managerial experience and professional background to bring real progress towards improving public safety in the East Ward.”

“If you’ve spoken even briefly with Anthony about his cherished East Ward, you’ll know right away he’s serious about lowering crime and improving the quality of life for residents,” said Gary D. Vickers, 1st Vice President of the Newark Police Superior Officers’ Association. “As a former Chief of Police for the City of Newark, Anthony also has the benefit of having been an executive to a large and complex agency – one that had to coordinate with other departments, agencies, and regional partners. This experience of working well with others will undoubtedly serve the residents of the East Ward well. We are honored to support him.”

“We launched our campaign with the simple message: ‘He’s with us,” declared Campos. “It means that this campaign will place the needs of the East Ward first. Today our friends in law enforcement are sending back the message: ‘We’re with you, because you’re with us.’ I am deeply honored for their support. As we work to enhance public safety in the East Ward, I am mindful that this goal can only be achieved by the City and the community working cooperatively with all of the various law enforcement agencies. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to accomplish that goal, and today’s endorsement is the first step in that partnership.”
