Running in the 2nd Congressional District Republican Primary, attorney Seth Grossman said President Donald J. Trump should dump Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller.
“In my opinion, Mueller and his staff are political thugs with briefcases,” Grossman told InsiderNJ.
Grossman said he believes Mueller’s goal is not to prosecute any crime against the President concerning the election.
“In my opinion, Mueller will increase his harassment and persecution of everyone close to the President until Trump has no choice but to fire him,” the Republican candidate said. “In my opinion, Mueller’s goal is not to pursue justice, but to provoke the crisis he thinks will give Democrats control of the House, demoralize Republicans, and impeach Trump. In my opinion, Trump has no choice but to fire Mueller as soon as possible, so his supporters like me have enough time to rally behind him before the November elections.”
Grossman wants the congressional seat being vacated by the retirement of U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-2).
A movement conservative, he did not garner any organizational support during the conventions season earlier this year, but dug in for the June Primary in a contest that includes frontrunner Hirsh Singh, former Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi and former FBI special agent Robert Turkavage.
Running as a moderate, Turkavage told InsiderNJ last month that Trump should not fire Mueller.
