CD5 Flashpoint: McCann Defeats Lonegan in Passaic

Running in the CD5 Republican Primary, Bergen attorney John McCann tonight beat former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan for the GOP line in the CD5 portion of Passaic County.

McCann received 19 votes.

Lonegan got four votes.

It’s two towns (Ringwood and West Milford). Still, the night represented a solid win for McCann, who figures to have the line, too, in Bergen County, where the awarding of the organization slogan falls singularly upon the shoulders of his ally, Bergen County GOP Chairman Paul DiGaetano.

McCann and Lonegan are fighting for the GOP nomination to go up against U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5) in the November General Election.

Other Passaic results:

U.S. Senate:

Hugin: 21

Goldberg: 2

  1. McCann’s opposed the Trump Tax cuts that lowered my taxes substantially, so why would any thinking person support him when he takes the exact same position on the tax cuts that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi took? You have to have a fiscal death with to support McCann!
