Character Contrast: How Joe Biden helped a 13-year-old Overcome his Stutter and how Donald Trump Mocked a Journalist with a Disability

After U.S. Senator Cory Booker slammed former Vice President Joe Biden over a comment he made about working in the senate with segregationists, Biden refused to say he was sorry and hit back with a demand that Booker apologize. Booker says, no way.

Character does matter.

There were many moments I found uplifting about the 2020 Democratic National Convention, including Vice President Joe Biden’s acceptance speech.  Yet the most meaningful for me was the video of Braden Harrington, a thirteen-year-old from New Hampshire, describing how Joe Biden helped him overcome his stutter.

Biden himself had a stutter problem as a child, which he overcame with his mother’s assistance. Watch this video of Braden describing the assistance and emotional support given to him by Joe Biden.

Now compare and contrast that with this video of Donald Trump mocking a disabled journalist, Serge Kovaleski of the New York Times, who has an impairment that visibly affects the flexibility and movement of his arms:

Joe Biden, heartfelt compassion versus Donald Trump, repulsive cruelty.

Character counts.  Case closed.

Alan Steinberg served as Regional Administrator of Region 2 EPA during the administration of former President George W. Bush and as Executive Director of the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission.

  1. “Anti-semites/Israel-Haters Linda Sarsour, Tamika Mallory, Imam Noman Hussain, AOC, Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Pastor Frederick Haynes Speak at Democratic Nat’l Convention”

I’m sure Mr. Steinberg was uplifted by these moments as well. As a propagator of the Charlottesville blood libel, he shares quite a bit philosophically with these speakers.

  2. Back in the 1970s Biden falsely represented himself as a Vietnam Veteran. You probably won’t find anything in writing, but I was there. Biden is a total phony. He’s what ever you want him to be unless you are a dog-faced pony soldier. Great character, Steinberg. He’s a liar, he verbally attacks women who ask him questions and bragged about working with the segregationists.

It really doesn’t matter because if he did manage to win, they will invoke the 25th Amendment immediately after the Inauguration. Of course, if it looks like he can’t win, they will replace him like they did with Torricelli in 2002.
