Committee of Interns and Residents SEIU Endorses James Solomon for Jersey City Mayor

Jersey City, NJ - James Solomon kicked off the next phase of the Jersey City mayoral race today with the endorsement of the Committee of Interns and Residents SEIU (CIR). CIR represents resident physicians and fellows and is the largest housestaff union in the United States. Their priorities include improving training and education while advancing patient care and healthcare access. Locally, they represent workers at JCMC and Christ Hospitals.
Jersey City Mayoral Candidate James Solomon said: “CIR SEIU members work every day to make our communities healthier while also fighting for better healthcare for all. I am proud to stand with them in those efforts and to have their endorsement. This campaign is about bringing good change to Jersey City. That effort starts with improving access to healthcare and as Mayor I will fight alongside CIR SEIU to make that happen. This campaign has already built a ton of momentum and as we enter the next phase of this race, we are ready to take it to the next level.”
Dr. Russell Yee, Committee of Interns and Residents SEIU Healthcare said: “As a resident physician at Jersey City Medical Center, I see in my patients how policy shapes the health and well-being of our communities. That’s why our union is endorsing James Solomon for Jersey City Mayor. James has consistently stood up for working people—championing groundbreaking laws that support tenants, workers, and families. That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need to build a healthier, fairer future for everyone here in Jersey City.”
