Cureton Running Unopposed for Dem Nomination for Bergen Sheriff

PARAMUS – Anthony Cureton is running unopposed for the support of the backing of the Bergen Democratic Committee for the office of sheriff.

That’s what Bergen County Democratic Committee Chairman Lou Stellato said.

Then someone jumped up yelling, however, shouting at Stellato.

“There’s a guy outside passing out flyers, he doesn’t know there’s a vote going on,” the committee member yelled.

That was Robert Kugler, Saddle Brook Police Chief, who told InsiderNJ that he was a candidate for the office of sheriff.

But U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9) backed up Stellato at the microphone.

“Excuse me, sir, you don’t have the floor, I do,” snapped the congressman. “I listened tou you, now you listen to me.

“I think the chairman has recommended wisely,” the congressman added. “His recommendation is a solid one. This is a man of character. I want you to know that I support him.”

Wait a minute, though.

Stellato asked if people wanted to reopen the nominations.

People said aye.
