Former Labor Secretary Tom Perez and Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison lead the field of candidates.

Currie backs Perez in what news reports say is a tight contest, with Perez having a slight edge at press time after candidate Jamie Harrison (chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party) dropped out and backed the former labor secretary.
