Dems Maintain Their Advantage in Cumberland

Landmark under siege: Beach erosion has the East Point Lighthouse sitting literally at the edge.

The numbers in Cumberland today:

18K Dems

12K Repubs

11K unaffiliated

or 41,000.

With three days to go, that compares to 52,224 and change in 2016, or 27771 votes for Hillary Clinton to 24,453 votes for Donald Trump.

Cumberland fits into the South Jersey jigsaw puzzle otherwise known as CD2, where U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-2) is trying to hold off the hard-charging challenge of Democrat Amy Kennedy.

The numbers reflect gains by both parties from earlier this week.

They’re tough to gauge, because Van Drew has worked hard to cohere unaffiliated voters in Cumberland, a county he has served going back to his days in the legislature, for almost 20 years.
