Diaz Points out Petrick’s Reliance on the Term ‘Fake News,’ a Trump Standard

Firing back this afternoon at Council President Bill Petrick, Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz said she rests her case that her political adversary is a President Donald J. Trump supporter by noting the eagerness with which he used the term “fake news” to characterize her outrage.

“He’s using the terminology of Trump and that proves my point,” said the mayor. “Who but Trump supporters use that terminology? Fake news. That’s their favorite term.”

His familiarity with it sinks his case, Diaz added.

“Look, he shared those posts, and he gave a weak apology to the citizens of Perth Amboy,” the mayor said. “He has to take responsibility for what he posted. He didn’t care about the residents and how hurtful that is to our community and to Latinos. ‘Fake news’ proves I’m not wrong.”
