Doherty Says Trump’s Choice of Testa can Help Propel LD1 Republican to Victory

NJ State Senator Mike Doherty says that President Donald Trump made a good decision to call off an air strike on Iran.

Senator Mike Doherty (R-23), the state’s movement conservative leader in Trenton, told InsiderNJ that Trump 2020 chose well when it made South Jersey’s Michael Testa co-chair (along with veteran Senator Joe Pennacchio) of the president’s New Jersey reelection campaign.

Doherty served as state director of the Trump campaign in 2016.

The Cumberland County GOP chairman, Testa is challenging state Senator Robert Andrzejczak (D-1) in the first legislative district.

“I think it was an outstanding political decision for the Trump campaign to name Mike Testa as a co-chairman for the 2020 reelection campaign,” said Doherty. “He is from southern NJ and it provides better geographic coverage across the state.  It also greatly enhances Mike’s chances to win the special election for Senate in the 1st Legislative District.”

Of his own service, the state senator added, “It was a great honor to serve as co-chairman in 2016. These positions are honorary titles and not birthrights. I fully support President Trump and will do all that I can to help him be re-elected in 2020.”
