Trump made a good decision to call off the air strike on Iran, state Senator Mike Doherty (R-23) said.

Doherty was state director for Trump in 2016.

“He won in 2016 because he promised no new wars in the Middle East,” Doherty said. “He should reconsider implementing the Iran deal, which at this time provides a good path for resolving the issue diplomatically.  News reports indicate that Pompeo and Bolton were advocating for a strike, while the generals were more cautious.

“Pompeo and Bolton are an embarrassment,” he added. “They are not serving the president, but their military industrial complex masters.  He needs to immediately remove these two warmongers from their positions before they do more damage.”
