Don Cresitello Announces Candidacy for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th District

“A Moderate Just Like You” Focused on Lower Costs, Common Sense, and Strong Leadership
Morristown, NJ — Don Cresitello, former Mayor of Morristown and a longtime public servant with decades of experience in local government, today announced his candidacy for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th District, pledging to bring common sense, balance, and results-driven leadership to Washington.
Running in the Democratic primary on June 2, 2026, Cresitello is positioning his campaign around the issues that matter most to working families: affordability, accountability, and security.
Putting Working Families First
“Too many families in New Jersey are struggling to keep up with the cost of living,” said Cresitello. “Washington needs to focus on what matters—making life more affordable and restoring common sense to government.”
Cresitello’s campaign will prioritize:
- Lowering the Cost of Living
Fighting for affordable housing, lower grocery costs, affordable health insurance, and relief at the gas pump. Cresitello has also warned that tariffs act as a hidden tax, driving up prices for everyday Americans. - Responsible Spending and Accountability
Opposing wasteful government spending and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used effectively. “We don’t need multi-million dollar vanity projects—we need results for families,” he said.
Proven Leadership and Experience
Cresitello brings unmatched experience to the race, having served:
- 8 years as Mayor of Morristown
- More than two decades on the Town Council
- 14 years on the Planning Board and Redevelopment Agency
As mayor, Cresitello held property tax increases to just 1.8% while advancing meaningful development, including the creation of hundreds of affordable housing units.
In the private sector, he has built and operated a successful construction and development business, employing more than 1,000 union workers and delivering real results for working families.
“Government should work the same way—get things done, solve problems, and deliver results,” Cresitello said.
Strong America, Safe America
Cresitello emphasized the importance of American leadership on the global stage:
- Supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression
- Ensuring European allies do more to support their own defense
- Standing firmly with Israel and its right to defend itself
He also warned of the continued threat posed by Iran:
“Since 1979, Iran’s regime has openly threatened America and Israel. After the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks that killed over 1,200 people, it’s clear we must remain vigilant. Iran can never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.”
Cresitello added that supporting Ukraine and Israel is essential to protecting American security, and called for regional leadership in rebuilding Gaza to promote long-term stability.
A Moderate Voice for a Divided Time
Cresitello is running as a practical, independent-minded Democrat, focused on bringing people together and delivering real solutions.
“I’m not running to be part of the noise in Washington,” he said. “I’m running to fix problems, lower costs, and restore trust in government.”
Call for Open Debate
Cresitello also issued a direct challenge to his Democratic primary opponents:
“I welcome a full and open debate with every candidate in this race. With decades of experience in government and the private sector, I believe voters deserve the opportunity to compare our records, our ideas, and our ability to lead.”
