FDU’s Silberman College of Business Welcomes Former Senator Gordon

Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Silberman College of Business proudly announces the appointment of Former New Jersey State Senator Bob Gordon to its Board of Advisors. With a career spanning public service and corporate consulting, Gordon brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the advisory group.

Throughout his distinguished career, Gordon has demonstrated exceptional leadership in various industries, including as a state senator, utility commissioner, transportation policy maker, and corporate management consultant. His multifaceted skills and bipartisan relationships uniquely position him to provide invaluable insights at the intersection of business and government.

“I am honored to be joining the Advisory Board of the Silberman College at FDU.  Because my career has spanned the public and private sectors, I have had a first-hand view of the interplay between business and government.  I hope I will be able to leverage that experience to strengthen the ties between the University and the public sector, ” said Former Senator Bob Gordon.

As a state senator representing Bergen and Passaic Counties, Gordon served as Senate Majority Conference Leader and chaired pivotal committees on Transportation and Legislative Oversight. His notable achievements include spearheading reforms to enhance transparency and governance at New Jersey Transit and advocating for significant improvements to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

In 2018, Gordon was appointed as one of five Commissioners of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities by Governor Phil Murphy, where he played a pivotal role in advancing the state’s clean energy agenda and overseeing major initiatives in offshore wind, electrification of transportation and solar program reforms.

Dean James Almeida of the Silberman College of Business expressed his enthusiasm for Gordon’s appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Former Senator Bob Gordon to the Silberman College Board of Advisors. His extensive experience in both the public and private sectors will undoubtedly enrich our discussions and strategic planning efforts. We look forward to leveraging his insights to further enhance the educational experience and opportunities for our students.”

Gordon’s dedication to public service extends beyond his legislative roles, having served on the New Jersey Transit Corporation Board and as Mayor and Council Member of the Borough of Fair Lawn.
