Former Booker Communications Director Peterkin Bell Co-Authors Book

Desiree Peterkin Bell, who served as communications director for then-Newark Mayor Cory Booker before going to work in the same capacity for Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, has co-authored a book consisting of 20 inspiring stories by and about women.

Women Who Inspire: A Collection of Inspirational Stories to Fuel Your Soul’s Deepest Desires, Authentic Truth, and Divine Purpose is available on Amazon.

“I wrote this for my nine-year old daughter, Kaelyn,” Peterkin Bell said, of her offering in the book. “I wanted her to know despite this crazy world we live in and no matter what is going on, she has Purpose. I want her to know despite the obstacles, self-doubt, and sometimes the ugliness of others’ intentions, as long as operates out of “Purpose, not Position,” there isn’t anything she can’t do.

“This is for all the women, young girls and anyone out there who has ever faced doubt, impediments, or fear,” added the author. “So many times we don’t write our own stories, or our own narratives and use our own voices, We need to.”

President and CEO of DPBell and Associates, Peterkin Bell while working for Mayor Nutter crafted the first-ever social media policy for the City of Philadelphia and built an award winning online presence for the City.
