Former Senator Francis McManimon Has Died

Former Senator Francis J. McManimon has died.

Born in Trenton in 1926 and a resident of Hamilton Township in Mercer County, he served in the General Assembly from 1972-1982 in LD13 and then the Senate from 1982-1992 in LD14.

In the Assembly, he served as Assistant Majority Leader and in the Senate as Vice-Chair of the Transportation and Communications Committee.

An old-school politician and ward heeler type, he was respected on both sides of the aisle by his legislative colleagues.

A Navy veteran who served in World War II, he was Hamilton’s Superintendent of the Parks and Recreation Division for 30 years.

Late last year, a portion of Route 195 was renamed in McManimon’s honor.

He was 93.

RIP to the great Sen, McManimon. He truly understood the value of bipartisanship.
