A former New Milford Board of Education President was among the victims in Tuesday’s New York killings.

Darren Drake died on the Hudson River bicycle path after getting hit by gunfire. Police shot and arrested Sayfullo Saipov in connection with the murders of eight people and injuries of 11.

Elected to the New Milford School Board in 2009, Mr. Drake served as vice president of that body before becoming president in January 2013. According to NJ.com, he stepped down in June of that year because his company relocated.
