Frangione to Serve as Murphy’s Acting Chief of Staff

Chief Policy Adviser Kathleen Frangione will serve as Governor Phil Murphy’s acting chief of staff in the aftermath of Peter Cammarano, statehouse sources say.

InsiderNJ first reported this last year.

It won’t be a permanent gig for Frangione, as Murphy continues to scour the landscape for a Cammarano replacement.

A policy nerd who lacks the sharp elbows for cloakroom politics, Frangione is seen more as a future Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) commissioner, a likely candidate to replace the wobbly Catherine McCabe.
