Frelinghuysen Says He Trusts Mueller Will Investigate Trump Jr. Russia Emails

Former Senator Rodney Frelinghuysen, who has had no public involvement with Republican colleagues even before leaving office in January, has put his name at the top of a list of GOP officials endorsing Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco’s reelection.

The email chain tweeted by Donald Trump, Jr. revealing his communications last year with a Russian contact seeking to arrange a meeting prompted a response today by U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11).

“I trust that Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees will be investigating this meeting fully and pursuing the facts no matter where they lead,” said the veteran Republican Congressman.

The June 2016 email exchange, published Tuesday, features Trump, Jr. replying “I love it” after having received an offer of information from the Russian government that could damage Hillary Clinton.
