Fulop Clobbers Matsikoudis in Jersey City

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop is under scrutiny by media and political foes for a Rhode Island home he bought with a line of credit from a Hudson County-based bank with which the city has deposits, and his use of an architect from Jersey City’s biggest landlord.
Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop won reelection tonight with an historic margin – the largest since 1947.
With 83% of the local vote unofficially in, the incumbent mayor is up 77-23% over challenger Bill Matsikoudis.
Fulop’s official statement:
“Today is a record-breaking Election Day in Jersey City, with the largest percentage margin since 1947 to re-elect a Mayor after four years. From a larger police force, to new parks, to stable taxes, I know that the efforts of our first term can be seen everyday, and I am honored to have been given another four years to build upon the progress we have worked so hard to achieve. I am confident that our team, including our new council members, will continue to move Jersey City forward, and I thank each and every resident for today’s humbling support.”
