Gloucester County Confirms 2nd COVID-19 Fatality, 120 Total Cases, as of Tuesday

The Gloucester County Department of Health confirmed Monday afternoon that a resident ill with COVID-19 has died, the second fatality in Gloucester County.

The patient was a 68-year-old male who was hospitalized with underlying medical conditions.

As of Tuesday, March 31, 2020 we have conducted 909 total tests. Of these cases, 752 have come back negative, 120 have come back positive and 37 are pending.

Tuesday’s count is an increase from the 89 total cases as of Monday.

The Gloucester County Department of Health and Human Services is working with the New Jersey Department of Health to conduct a full assessment that includes identifying the contacts the positive cases have had.

At this time, the overall threat of COVID-19 to Gloucester County residents remains low. Gloucester
County is expecting cases to rise.

Social distancing is critical in flattening the curve and reducing cases. A mask should only be worn if a healthcare professional recommends it. Most people with mild symptoms do not need to be tested. It is important to stay home and isolate from others while sick.

The statewide COVID-19 case count climbed by 2,196 on Tuesday, March 31st, for a total of 18,696 cases; 69 New Jerseyans died since Monday, bringing the fatality count to 267 as of Tuesday.
