Gloucester County Reports First COVID-19 Fatality on Friday

The Gloucester County Department of Health confirmed Thursday night that a resident ill with COVID-19 has died, the first fatality in Gloucester County. The patient was an 82-year-old female who was hospitalized with underlying medical conditions.

The Gloucester County Department of Health and Human Services and Office of Emergency Management are announcing additional positive COVID-19 cases daily in Gloucester County.

The Gloucester County Department of Health and Human Services is working with the New Jersey Department of Health to conduct a full assessment that includes identifying the contacts these individuals have had.

At this time, the overall threat of COVID-19 to Gloucester County residents remains low. Gloucester County is expecting cases to rise.

Social distancing is critical in flattening the curve and reducing cases. A mask should only be worn if a healthcare professional recommends it. Most people with mild symptoms do not need to be tested. It is important to stay home and isolate from others while sick.
