GOP Senate Candidate Singh Grabs a Win in Ocean

Hirsh Singh

TOMS RIVER – GOP Senate candidate Hirsh Singh tonight snagged the endorsement of the Ocean County Republican Committee.

This was Singh’s first county win and he acted accordingly, enthusiastically thanking the crowd and vowing to “throw out” Cory Booker.

Singh’s win was a bit surprising given the fact Rik Mehta already has racked up support from about half the counties in the state.

It seemed likely  that Singh was helped by a home court advantage of sorts. He lives in Linwood in Atlantic County, but he previously lived in Ocean. Mehta lives in Chester Township.

The vote was 106 for Singh to 77 for Mehta.

A third candidate, Tricia Flanagan, missed the in-house election. She was nominated, but there was no second.

According to Ballotpedia, Singh – who ran unsuccessfully for govrenor in 2017 and congress in 2018 – joined Hi-Tec Systems in 2004 as a junior network administrator and worked his way up through the company, eventually becoming senior director of Operations in 2013. He earned a B.S. in engineering science, biomedical tissue engineering, and material science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2009.
