Gopal Officially Makes History in the State of New Jersey

TRENTON – Senator Vin Gopal (D-11).

The man who defeated ten-year incumbent state Senator Jen Beck (R-11) by 4,000 votes and shifted the Senate Democratic Majority from 24-16 to 25-15 assumed the oath of office today at the urging of Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3).

Above, Gopal takes the oath, and in the process makes history as New Jersey’s first South Asian State Senator.

The Senator from Monmouth is the new vice chair of the Senate Transportation Committee.
