  1. NJ unnecessarily longest in the nation school closures due to the pandemic caused unprecedented learning loss that was not addressed with a “sense of urgency”as stated by some of our prominent legislators. ( Per NJ Independent COVID -19 Report) They also admitted, many children will never catch up and that NJ is 2-3 years behind in teaching literacy. Governor Murphy JUST signed a literacy bill.
NJ is a wonderfully diverse state , but also is the sixth most segregated school system in the nation. Deserving students are locked in failing school districts due to home rule ( zip code) with no way out.
NJ teachers pay the highest union dues in the nation with a significant portion of those dues going to politics rather than classroom safety and support and improving teachers salaries. This maybe a reason for the teacher shortage?
Some in attendance of this fundraiser are NJ leaders of education. ?
