Guadagno and Rendo Party with Mortimer’s Union County GOP

Bucked up by an internal poll that GOP pollster Adam Geller says puts her within striking distance of Democratic frontrunner Phil Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno headlined a fundraising event last night for Union County Republicans in the Mountainside backyard of county party chairman Glenn Mortimer.

State Party Chairman Mike Lavery attended; so did U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7), Hudson County GOP Chair Jose Arango, and Warren County GOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt. The Union GOP backed Guadagno’s rival, Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, in the Republican Primary earlier this year, but Mortimer said the gang’s all in with the nominee.

“I can only speak for Union,” the chairman told InsiderNJ. “Everybody in Union is on board. We are 1000% all in.”

The chair dismissed Murphy as tax first and ask questions afterwards Democrat.

“He’s not lying when he tells you he’s going to raise taxes,” Mortimer said. “If he fully wants to fund education and workers pensions, the millionaire’s tax wont be enough money. It is our responsibility to get his message to voters and stop him.”
