WHEN: Friday, December 13th, 4:30 PM
WHERE: City Hall Annex 1 Jackson Square Jersey City, NJ 07302
WHAT: After the horrific mass shooting in the Greenville area of Jersey City that left six dead and
three injured, anti-violence organizations from around the city are holding a candlelight vigil to honor
the survivors and remember the victims. They will also call on the Senate to take action by
introducing HR8 to the floor, a bill that requiring background checks on all gun sales, but has been stalled for months after passing the House. Additionally, they will call on the press to provide more balanced reporting of the south side of Jersey City, where shootings are extremely common, yet rarely receive news coverage. These anti-violence organizations invite the community to unify in paying respect to the victims, and to draw attention to the gun violence epidemic in our country, our state, and Jersey City which has one of the highest rates of homicide in New Jersey.
