Gusciora Wins Trenton Mayoralty

Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora calls for federal action to fight gun violence after 6 people are shot in one night.

Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-15) has defeated Paul Perez for the Trenton mayoralty.

Unofficially, Gusciora won by 315 votes in the Trenton runoff to succeed Mayor Eric Jackson.

Gusciora received 4,500 votes to Perez’s 4,145 or 52% of all votes cast.

It was a stunning victory by the assemblyman, who moved to Trenton from Princeton Twp. following 2011 redistricting.

Governor Phil Murphy called Gusciora to congratulate him after the win.

“It was a thrill,” the capital city’s mayor-elect told InsiderNJ of his win.

“It was a street by street battle and it was a collective effort,” Gusciora said. “We worked with community groups, the seniors in the towers, everyone. It started as a more organic and grassroots effort and then turned into good old fashioned electioneering.”
