Antonio “Tony” Suarez of Secaucus, the brother of Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez and a Secaucus Housing Authority Commissioner, is the Hudson County Democratic Organization’s (HCDO) choice to replace Assemblyman Vinny Prieto (D-32) in the Legislature, a source told InsiderNJ.

Prieto is expected to receive affirmation today for a job at the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority and will soon vacate the seat that he used to springboard onto the speaker’s chair four years ago.

Esther Suarez circulated for a time as a prospect for the job of attorney general in the Murphy Administration, but Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal outdueled her for the job.
