Horizon Restructuring Bill Just Passes in the Senate

A source tells NJ Insider that as a result of Governor Phil Murphy's appointment of a task force to investigate an NJEDA tax incentive program in place during the administration of former governor Chris Christie and its subsequent criminal referral to the state attorney general, Senate President Steve Sweeney will not prioritize Murphy's wishes during budget proceedings.

TRENTON – The controversial Horizon restructuring bill authored by state Senator Joe Vitale (D-19) passed in the senate this afternoon with 21 votes.

The vote stood at 19 for a time before the bill championed by Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) mustered the requisite votes.

Having abstained in the Budget Committee, state Senator Jeff Van Drew (D-1) voted no; so did state Senator Ray Lesniak (D-20).
