InsiderNJ Video Flashback: The Day Nunes Locked Horns with Pascrell

Pascrell

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9) once told U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) that they could settle their differences outside.

Now in the news because of his release of a disputed GOP memo, Nunes during consideration of the Republican tax bill in the Ways and Means Committee moved that a Pascrell amendment to provide disaster tax relief for Sandy victims, among others, was not germane to the legislation.

Pascrell was so enraged that he blew up in the hearing and as part of his reaction said, “…if you discriminate against me because I’m from New Jersey, we’ll settle it outside…”

Today, Pascrell issued the following statement regarding the memo’s release by the House Intelligence Committee.

“Releasing this memo is like doing a book report without reading the book,” said Pascrell. “Clearly, Mr. Nunes has not done his homework. He is simply an errand boy for President Trump. Perhaps that’s what his job in Washington is worth. I thought he was a Congressman, not a gofer. Releasing a misleading memo based on cherry-picked information to cover President Trump’s obstruction and his continued attacks on the FBI and our nation’s law enforcement is a clear abuse of power. Speaker Ryan must take action and immediately remove Mr. Nunes from his Chairmanship.”
