Jersey City Mayoral Candidate O'Dea Endorses Sheriff Schillari

Hudson County Commissioner Bill O'Dea, Democratic candidate for Mayor of Jersey City and longtime public servant, today announced his endorsement of Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari in next week’s June 10 Democratic primary election.

"Sheriff Schillari has been a steady leader in Hudson County, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to public safety and community engagement," said O'Dea. "His approach to law enforcement and dedication to serving all residents with respect and dignity make him my choice for Sheriff.

Sheriff Schillari, a U.S. Navy veteran and retired Sergeant of the Secaucus Police Department, has served as Hudson County Sheriff since 2011. Under his leadership, the Sheriff's Office has implemented 24/7 patrols for county parks and roads, established a Traffic and Crash Investigation Unit in partnership with Vision Zero and the State of New Jersey, and expanded specialized units including SWAT, Motors, and the K-9 Unit to enhance emergency response. He has also focused on protecting all communities by establishing a special unit to safeguard houses of worship and creating the Blue Envelope Program to assist individuals with special needs during traffic stops. His efforts have secured millions in grant funding, modernizing the Sheriff's Office without increasing the burden on taxpayers.

"Frank's record speaks for itself," O'Dea continued. "From introducing body cameras for all officers to joining the Attorney General’s ARRIVE Together program supporting individuals in mental health crises, he has consistently prioritized accountability, and progressive policing. I look forward to collaborating with leaders like Sheriff Schillari who share my vision for a safer, more inclusive community and urge all residents to support his re-election on June 10."

“I’m honored to have the support of Bill O’Dea, a true public servant who has spent his career fighting for the people of Jersey City and Hudson County,” said Sheriff Frank X. Schillari. “Together, we share a commitment to smart, community-focused law enforcement that keeps all our neighborhoods safe while building trust with residents. I look forward to continuing that mission and working alongside leaders like Bill who put people first.”
