Kim Receives Endorsement From IATSE District 10 in Race for U.S. Senate

Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States and Canada, District Ten, in his race for United States Senate. Founded in 1893, IATSE’s mission is to improve all entertainment workers’ lives both inside and outside the workplace. IATSE District 10 members work in all forms of live theater, motion picture and television production, trade shows and exhibitions, television broadcasting, and concerts, as well as the equipment and construction shops that support all these areas of the entertainment industry.

“New Jersey families have access to some of the best entertainment in the country and IATSE District 10 members work hard behind the scenes to make those experiences possible,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “From musicals to job expos, these members deserve fair work conditions and the right to organize, and I look forward to continuing my work to fight for artists and technical entertainment workers in the Senate.”

“Congressman Kim on countless occasions has stood by the members of IATSE since entering Congress and we have no doubt he will continue his unwavering support for workers rights and protections in the entertainment industry,” said IATSE Secretary-Treasurer Greg R. Hancox. “Congressman Andy Kim, through his voting record during his three terms in Congress, has demonstrated his desire for the right to organize and expand collective bargaining rights. He supports establishing safeguards to ensure the fair and ethical use of AI, will fight to increase federal funding for the arts, and will advance equity, diversity and inclusion in the arts and entertainment industry. It is why the IATSE District Ten trusts Congressman Kim to keep fighting for working families and will make New Jersey a better place to raise a family, and is someone we can look up to as a man who plays by the rules. He has been a champion in strengthening congressional ethics and getting money and its corrupting influence out of politics. For all these reasons, we are supporting Andy Kim for U.S. Senate.”

In Congress, Andy co-sponsored the Advancing Equities Through the Arts and Humanities Act, which would take away the arts as a key way to combat racism, and has consistently voted to fund the National Endowment for the Arts. He also voted for the Performing Artist Tax Parity Act and has delivered thousands of dollars in grant funding for local nonprofits in his district to expand access to literature through the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.

As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Congressman Andy Kim has been proud to represent his home community in Congress. Andy is a young father of two little boys and represents a new generation of leadership stepping up to fix our broken politics. As a former national security official, Andy previously advised President Obama on counterterrorism and worked for four-star generals in Afghanistan.

Andy went on to win a congressional district that Trump won twice by defeating three consecutive self-funding republican millionaires. In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families, help support small businesses through challenging times, and has battled House Republicans in the fight to restore protections for women in the aftermath of the 2022 Dobbs decision. Andy is now stepping up to run for senate to fight against corruption and restore integrity to public service.
