Labor-Bulked Steinmann Eyes Independent Challenge from Prykanowski

Ewing Mayor Bert Steinmann faces an independent candidate this year, and with the full support of labor behind him this week he showed off a bulked-up organization at Blooming Grove.

Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes, state Senator Shirley Turner (D-15), Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo (D-14), Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (D-15), Assemblyman Tony Verrelli (D-15) and Trenton Councilwoman Marge Caldwell Wilson attended Steinmann’s event Monday night. Organized labor showed up, and so did the CWA.

The incumbent Democrat’s hoping to stare down Ronald Prykanowski, a retired purchasing agent and former Hightstown councilman who served two years on the Ewing Planning Board.

A former Republican, Prykanowski’s challenging Steinmann as an independent.

“I’m proud and honored to be mayor of this great town,” Steinmann told the crowd Monday night. “I’m looking forward to serving another four years and fighting for every Ewing resident.”
