Labor-Employer Ads Blow into Dem Battlegrounds

Expressing outrage over wind energy legislation that passed during the last budget session, the Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative launched a series of ads in battleground legislative districts.

The ad targets incumbent Democrats.

State Senator Joe Lagana (D-38) absorbed one of the ads. So did state Senator Paul Sarlo (D-36), the Senate Budget chairman.

“What would you do with one billion dollars?” the voice over asks in the ad. “Perhaps you would pay off your mortgage or bills maybe you’d pay off your kids’ college funds.

“How about using it to bail out a foreign corporation?”

A screeching sound occurs.

“Well, that’s what Senator Lagana and the state legislature just did,” the voice over proclaims. “Senator Lagana just voted to take one billion dollars of federal tax credits specifically earmarked to reduce your utility bills and gave it away to bail out a foreign company…. Shameful. Tell Senator Lagana you want your money back.”

Take a look at the ad here.

Governor Phil Murphy signed the wind energy legislation into law earlier this month.

Via Politico:

“The offshore wind law will allow energy company Ørsted to keep hundreds of millions of dollars in federal tax incentives that the company otherwise would be required to pass along to state utility customers. Without the deal, the company and Murphy administration officials said the wind farm would not be built. In exchange for the relief, Ørsted agreed — and now by law will be obligated — to spend $200 million at the Paulsboro port where Murphy signed the bill.”

The Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative (ELEC) also targeted 4, 6 and 16 as part of their initiative to inform voters about what the group regards as punishing legislation that, in the words of one irritated Democrat, “Moved the state’s agenda too far to the left.”

From ELEC’s website:

“Operating Engineers move the equipment that moves mountains – and the Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative (ELEC) puts them to work building the most essential projects for our region’s transportation, energy, and water infrastructure.

“ELEC promotes economic development, infrastructure investment, and construction industry education to provide opportunities for developers, union contractors, and members of Local 825. By working together, our members improve the economy, create good-paying jobs, and overhaul the critical infrastructure systems throughout New Jersey and New York State.”

  1. Phil Murphy is a poor excuse of a politician. People are leaving NJ by the thousands. High taxes, high car insurance, and just a terrible choice by NJ voters.

  2. Phil Murphy is not much of a human. Killer Murphy is not only giving our tax money away, he’s killing harmless whales and dolphins who visit our shores. With that rax money.

  3. Phil Murphy is a great governor. This wind deal is a boon for our state. And a little bonus for all of us. .. it will help save our planet. It infuriates me to see these anti wind signs all along the shore. VanDrew gets millions from fossil fuel pacs. I am sure he is not the only Jersey republican in bed with them. And these local town political swindlers are all against wind for selfish phony reasons. Guess they don’t care about what kind of world we leave for our kids. I say vote out every republican.

  4. Murphy should move back to Italy and stay there. Stop giving all our tax money to his political cronies.

  5. Vinny Gambini–vaffancuolo, moron!
Charles Dolceamore–the voters spoke twice, snowflake.
    Joseph Fydrych–likewise.
Peter Bandel–you and I are the only intelligent people on this thread.

  6. There is some information missing from this piece. Are the R’s planning to help with housing for people in need – teachers, some union jobs, journeypeople, tradespeople? Are the R’s planning to save the environment for future generations? Rape, pillage, and greed is the credo of the R’s and frankly – look further into any ad that throws mud… always better to try and stink someone else up so you don’t have to look in the mirror…

  7. Phil Murphy and the Democrats are liars, preying on liberal’s ignorance. These wind farms will NOT help the environment. These behemoths weigh 150 Tons and require so much energy to manufacture, fabricate, assemble, transport and install that they will take 8 years just to recover the energy it took to make them. And they have only 15 year lifespans. Its like the plastic bag ban, totally useless. Unless you use those bags 250 times (10 years) they actually increase plastics in landfills, not reduce them. Democrats are all about talking good, NOT doing good.

  8. Russian Republicans employ KGB style Whataboutism to vloud the facts . Fossil fuel compsnies have to pay each& every American for tge filth&co2 theyve been pumping into our atmosphere that is killing Americans now

  9. Fossil Fuel made modernity possible, and saved the environment. They should be praised for making like comfortable and progressive, not berated. Leftist are too ignorant to use their brains. Had it not been for fossil fuels, whales would be extinct… it was their oil used to light homes. Without gas to heat 6 million homes in the tri-state area, trees would be extinct… as before oil, wood was burned for cooking and heating. Without gas for cars, horses (and their crap) would have contributed alot more to carbon emissions than modern cars do. This is why you can’t trust Democrats.. they are too dumb to realize reality.

  10. Glad the fight is on against all Off shore wind turbine supporters. There are no jobs being created since they will put several industries out of business. Nothing about these structures is biodegradable so no planet saving. I don’t want my electricity bill to increase 4-6 times what it is today. As a resident of NJ, people were also stripped of their rights to vote on this. It’s disgusting that these politicians think they are representing the people or the planet for that matter.

  11. This will have no effect on climate change. Don’t ask me, it’s on the Environmental Impact Study. So why are we doing this. We are destroying sea life for politicians to be paid off

  12. Come November we need to vote out EVERY NJ Legislator that voted yes to give the NJ ratepayers money to a foreign company, actually 50% owned by a foreign country. BOEM even says these turbines will not reduce CO2 levels. So, why are we spending billions of taxpayers money to destroy our ocean, our marine life, our fishermen and our coastal communities? The answer, and the only thing about this project that is green! MONEY!
