Bergen Democrats in the 36th District tonight unanimously backed Clinton Calabrese of Cliffside Park for the Assembly seat vacated by Acting Department of Insurance and Banking Commissioner Marlene Caride.

Calabrese collected 110 votes from county committee members.

Passaic Democrats have their convention tomorrow, where Calabrese is expected to receive their support.

Even if the 35 odd committee members there oppose him, he’ll still carry the bulk of party support on the strength of tonight’s Bergen vote.
